A little bit about our club...
After returning from the USA in 2004 Jodie and Hollie Blake started coaching twice a week at Stirchley Recreational Centre in September 2004. By the summer of 2005, the classes were full and sister Ashlie (Blake) joined the club as a coach.
Within that time, the sessions expanded to four times per week, but it was not long before these were full, so another two extra days were added!
In September 2006, the club performed a gymnastic adaptation of "Peter Pan," which was the first production of its type in the UK. The production raised enough money to purchase a new set of uneven bars.
By the end of 2006, the club had outgrown the Centre and moved to an area within a local play facility during May 2007. This was a purpose built facility, which included a sprung floor, 5 beams, bars, vault, trampoline, trampette and recreational floor.
In December 2007, the club performed a gymnastic adaptation of "Tarzan" to raise money for further equipment.
Due to a sudden change in tenure, the club had to relocate at very short notice, however, on the 18th February 2008, the club opened its doors to its new home, complete with an Olympic size sprung floor, bars, beams, valut, trampoline, trampette, recreational floor and five very dedicated, experienced, hard-working coaches.
In January 2009 Shooting Stars welcomed a new coach to the team Abbiegail Blake.
In February 2009 Shooting Stars was selected to perform in The London Festival of Gymnastics in October 2009.
The club is going from strength to strength and staff and coaches are determined to make the club the best of the best!
